The Dope Story

Uday's (name changed) father has a reason for his head-ache.
Since the last two months, his son has been asking more and more pocket allowance well beyond his regular expenses. The justification of his ache is that Kashinadh Padhy, the father is a clerk at the Odisha secretariat.
According to the 2001 Indian census, clerical grade employees of a state Government are categorized under Grade-4B income group. In simple terms, Uday's family was officially a lower middle class one.
Being a common man with financial liabilities, Kashinadh could afford the basic necessities for his son who was pursuing his B.Tech degree at a local engineering college.
But now, Things at home were witnessing a sea change. Almost. He would ask for more money with each day passing and if refused, would stay off home for the night or maybe two nights.
This wasn't much a reason for Kashinadh to be tensed about because he was well aware of the fact that his son was into smoking. He wished he could help it. But each time he tried, His love for his son just got better off his duty as a father.
And now, when Uday was caught stealing his mother's Jewellery from home itself, it was really big a reason for Kashi to worry about.
For the moment, he stuffed that 'Love for my son' feeling somewhere deep inside his otherwise
beautiful heart. He wasn't in a mood to forgive and forget. Like a common-man, he went to the local police station and lodged a FIR against Uday on charges of attempt to theft and attempt to commit suicide. After receiving a copy of the Interrogation report from the cops, Kasinadh was shocked to know that Uday has been doing drugs for the last two-three months,
on a regular basis. The medical reports also indicated high-levels of Gluconin and other inhibitory toxins in his blood-stream.
Nonetheless, Inputs from Uday helped the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police to sniff a tail of a deadly drug racket operating at a scale spanning from the dark ghettos of the city slums to the hippest of the city-based pubs.
If you take a look around you, you might just happen to find ten more like Uday. Just for a kick, to seek trance, or to get a temporary relief from reality are some of the reasons stated by Dopers when you ask them the question. They blow up the hard-earned money on drugs ranging from a petty 'ganja'(Marijuana Joint) to the '20K a packet' of ecstasy or LSD. These drugs often sold illegally by expert peddlers and other anti-social retards, are smuggled in the most audacious manner, By-passing customs, security checks, security this, Scanning that. Some clinical medicines like pain-killers are also used as drugs.
The sad part is that they are sold over the counter, most often without a Physician's prescription.
During my research for this article, a drug store owner pointed me a brand of a pain-killer and said that its the youth who buy it often. "Kohinoor aur Moods se zyaada yeh bikta hai boss..". he quips as we concluded our discussion. Its really sad that today's youth is more desperate to get an high than to have protected sex. Sad, Period.
Apart from getting a generation or two to the drains, it may be surprising to know of how Drugs and dope screw things up in a bigger manner. While buying drugs illegally, a considerable amount of white taxable money changes hands and lands in a locker of some Big shot’s Swiss account. In the whole process, it gets converted into Black Money which in some instances is used to fund the likes of Hamas and Al-Qaeda and their nefarious activities.

People, spread the word against Dope. Please do your bit, this one time. Its an appeal.
Say NO to Drugs, Say YES to LiFe.
