10:45pm - "Suresh P | Exit Time - 10:35pm"
The column next to 'Exit Time' read 'Probable time of return'. He left it blank. Suresh signed the entry register as he left his hostel and headed towards the campus auto stand.
"All this is gonna get over, Just in time.", he said this to himself as he watched a few of the final year guys, his batch-mates dunking in the basketball court. As he said these words, walking, mist came out of his mouth which is usual for a chilly and late December night.
"Bhai! Ra-il-way Station?", he asked an auto-wallah who was half asleep to some Altaf Raja number playing in the vehicle's stereo.
He placed his rucksack behind the seat beside a sound-box, country made. Something in the sound-box struck his attention. Rang a bell somewhere.
The sound-box made of plywood had Mallika-Sherawat Sticker-ed all over it. Fuck, it was the same auto where they had kissed last.
"Bhaina, Station double charge lagiba, Okay?"
The auto-guy's question drew his mind into reality and he replied - "Haan. Jaldi chala. Make it fast."
As he headed towards the station, he thought of every moment they spent together. Their first kiss, first fight, the bike-trips, the last kiss and the last time they talked on the phone.
"everything is gonna get into place. Just in time.", Something in him said it to him.
10:22pm - "Platform ticket. One". Hetook the chit and headed towards platform three, climbing the stairs to the foot-over bridge in a matter of seconds. He was breathing heavily, panting actually. He finally ended up at Prashanti Express. "BBSR-BLURU ->" -the sign in one of the bogies read.
S1, S2, S3....he read the coach numbers as he reached the door at the far end of S4. There at the door, stood a girl, sorry, THE GIRL....22-23 years of age maybe, in a pink-kurti and washed white denims complete with a 'Fab-India' sandal which he gifted on her last b'day.
"Thank god, Aj time pe aaye. Here..Have a sip, bade zor se bhaag ke aaye it seems.", Nidhi said this as she handed him the Bisleri. The thin silver bangles in her hand clanked and produced some sort of a music which Suresh could clearly hear despite all the Pandemonium around.
"Abbayi (god), those bangles are killing me", he thought as he took three sips.
Nidhi - "Kuch bhool rahe ho tum."
Suresh -""Arey Haan, here it is."
He handed over the rucksack he had brought with him.
She quickly unzipped the main pocket and scanned what's inside. A diary, sorry..two diaries., Lots of photographs of theirs, a packet of Parle-G biscuits :P, and his lifetime worth collection of Movie DVDs.
N - "Saare diye na..??"
S - " Yes. Sabhi diye hain."
N - "Ocean's series? 27 Dresses, Identity...."
S - " Conspiracy aur Ultimatum bhi hain. Fifty first dates, Notting Hill, Msg in a bottle, All is in."
N - "Yeh doosri diary kya hai?"
S- "woh jo main likha karta tha na...Poems, Stories and stuff. All of them."
N- "Tum hi rakho...Its your thing, how can i..."
He pushed the other diary into her palms.
Now she was blabbering . She looked like a kid when she did that. And it now made him smile and he tried hard not to get it on his face.
S - "Tumhe bhi kuch dena tha na..??"
He said these words as he heard the blaring horn which signaled that the train had started moving out and slowly started being in motion.
N -" Y-y-yes...",she reached for her handbag and took out a packet covered in brown paper like the ones they use to cover beer-bottles when one buys them from a liquor-off shop.
Suresh opened the envelope and stood paralyzed. Emotionally crippled.
He looked at Nidhi as she distanced away from him with the train chugging out of the station.
After almost 10 minutes of such a composure, he glanced upon what he was holding in his hands.
It had gold colored borders in the cream colored envelope with letters in sanskrit that read
|| शुभ विवाह ||
Everything's gonna get into place, just in time.", he stil thought.
Separation.

at times, one wonders, what is more important:
the time that we spend with the loved one or the time that we spend missing them?
both are equally crushing, maybe!
good read!
cheers!
@deepika- Hmmm...Thoughtful one, that was.
